The 4th TS is manned by crews from the two Fighter Training Units (FTU's), the 333rd and 334th. They develope and teach most academics to the students as well as flying training missions with the two FTU's.

When the F-15E FTU closed at Luke AFB all assets were sent to Seymour Johnson AFB and the 333rd was added to the wing as the F-15E Fighter Training Unit. The squadron was most recently the A-10 FTU at Davis Monthan AFB.
